First Sunday in Advent
Scripture
Jeremiah 33:14-16 14“Behold, the days are coming, declares the Lord, when I will fulfill the promise I made to the house of Israel and the house of Judah. 15In those days and at that time I will cause a righteous Branch to spring up for David, and he shall execute justice and righteousness in the land. 16In those days Judah will be saved, and Jerusalem will dwell securely. And this is the name by which it will be called: ‘The Lord is our righteousness.’”
Reflection
With Advent we turn to God’s promises for His people. Through His merciful promises He plans a wonderful future for His people. Jeremiah’s visions include the coming of the Messiah, Jesus, and His Kingdom of justice and righteousness. What hope we have.
At Advent we wait and prepare our hearts to welcome our Savior anew. Thanking God for His perfect plan for our salvation and His promise to be with us always.
Prayer
Lord, King of the Universe,
Thank you for loving us so much that you came to earth to save us. Please strengthen us as we wait for you to return. Keep us in your will, we pray. Guide us with your living and powerful Word. Help us to share the good news of salvation with others. Amen
